Florence Day 8!
Well, we were still pooped from yesterday's excursion and decided to take the day off today. We went to bed with headaches last night and figured that our bodies would be grateful to us for a little R&R (rest and relaxation). We allowed ourselves to wake up late and decided to go to the grocery store. To minimize the amount of trips we would need to make to the store, as we walk there and do not take the bus, we took a backpack and a suitcase (to roll the heavy bottles). We encountered a little situation at 'Conad,' the supermarket, when Pox got a little crazy in the pastry aisle... he wanted to buy everything! That's what happens when you spend a lot of time with a Chávez girl! We settled on two packets of pre-packaged pastries (very Hostess), one bag of cookies, and one chocolate roll cake. Wow, we were oinkies today. Mind you, we will eat the sweets in moderation, the ice-cream too.
We came back to the apartment and did some laundry, as we are also getting ready for our trip to Venice in just 2 days! While we were waiting for our clothes to wash, we watched the opening ceremony for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Very impressive and artistic--over the top!
After the ceremony, we watched what has become a new favorite Italian game show 'Jackpot: Fate il Vostro Gioco,' or play your own game. It's very 'Wheel of Fortune' and contestants have to answer questions in order to earn money and spin the wheel. If the contestants answer incorrectly, or land on a red space on the wheel at any time, they lose half of their jackpot. Contestants then have to work their way back up. They play funny music during the show and contestants have to sing and dance, it's too much! We had fun watching it. Pox was a little anxious during the show though, he was waiting for the pizza place to open across the street. Eventually it did and we were able to enjoy our dinner of left over bow-tie pasta with pesto and pizza alla marinara, with the chocolate roll cake for desert! Mangia!
